For the summer of the big wet, this must qualify as a heat wave.

After a glorious weekend, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday promise more sunshine and highs in the mid-20s. Sunbathe while you can – a risk of rain and sweater-weather lows are on the horizon.

Environment Canada’s forecast for Monday is sunny and 25 C but will feel more like 27. The overnight low is 11 C.

Tuesday is sunny with some clouds appearing by afternoon and a high of 24 C that will feel more like 26.

Wednesday is sunny at 25 C but a chance of rain rolls back in Wednesday night along with cooler temperatures.

There’s a 40 per cent chance of rain Wednesday night and Thursday, when the high will be 16 C and the low just 5 C.

Friday is sunny and 19 C with a low of 7 C.

Saturday’s forecast is for sunshine and a high of 22 C. Sunday is a mix of sun and cloud and 22 C.

Normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 23 C and low of 13 C, the weather agency says.

Those late-summer days are getting shorter – sunrise is now at 6:19 a.m. while sunset is at 7:48 p.m.
