A speedy 911 call and quick action by firefighters prevented the spread of a blaze that engulfed a construction trailer at École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Marie on Innes Road late Sunday night.
The fire, which caused damage pegged at $70,000, is now being investigated by the city police arson unit.
Firefighters were called to visible smoke and flames behind the school at 11:08 p.m. They declared a working fire at 11:14 p.m. and had it under control at 11:30 p.m. with paramedics and police on hand.
A fire services investigator who visited the scene to assess the cause and extent of damage referred the fire to police.
