Police are searching for a man they consider armed and dangerous following a late-night weekend shootout between rival gunmen firing from their cars near Algonquin College’s Woodroffe campus.

Police said they received “numerous” emergency calls reporting the shootout around 2:25 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26. A spray of bullets left around 40 shell casings littering the intersection of Woodroffe Avenue and Navaho Drive.

Investigators were still on scene when a 25-year-old man checked himself into an Ottawa hospital with non life-threatening gunshot wounds related to the incident.

The guns and gangs unit said Tuesday it is still looking for 25-year-old suspect Joseph Madore of Ottawa.

Police warned he is considered armed and dangerous. Madore faces multiple firearms charges, including possession of a prohibited firearm, discharging the firearm reckless to the life or safety of another person and occupying and motor vehicle with a firearm.

Investigators are also trying to locate a grey Acura sedan involved in the shooting. The vehicle has an Ontario licence plate, with number CBYE918.

Anyone with information is asked to call the guns and gangs unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050.
