The province`s civilian police watchdog is investigating after a 56-year-old Hawkesbury man was taken from the OPP’s cells to hospital Wednesday.
The OPP reports that officers from the Hawkesbury detachment dealt with a disturbance on Gladstone Street in the town at about 11:30 p.m.
A man was arrested and put in a cell where he experienced what the OPP is describing a “some issues” and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Police notified the SIU, which invoked its mandate to investigate incidents involving police and civilians that have resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
Meanwhile, the OPP says officers continue to investigate the disturbance call.
