One person is dead and another is in serious condition after a collision between a motor vehicle and a motorcycle on Highway 17 about noon Friday.
A spokeswoman for the Ontario Provincial Police said the passenger on the motorcycle was transported by air ambulance and later pronounced dead.
The other person who had been on the motorcycle was at a local hospital in serious condition.
The highway is closed between Pembroke and Mattawa as officers investigate.
Cars are being detoured to Highway 41, then to Highway 60 and on to Highway 11.
The OPP spokeswoman could not confirm when the road would reopen.
