Police in Gatineau are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a man who is believed to be involved in identity theft and bank fraud.
Police said the incident occurred June 30 when a man went to a bank at the Galeries d’Aylmer, 181 Principale St. He claimed to have lost his bank card and presented two pieces of identification.
The teller issued a new bank card to the man, cancelling the old card in the process.
The man is then believed to have gone to several businesses around Ottawa, making purchases. He also allegedly made cash wthdrawals.
The man is described as being black, around 50 years of age with a medium build.
Anyone with information in the matter is asked to call Gatineau police at 819-243-2345, ext. 6238.
