Two women killed, three injured in crash near Metcalfe

Two women are dead after a crash on Dalmeny Road near Swale Road southwest of Metcalfe Thursday morning.

The victims, one in her 40s and the second in her 60s, were killed in the two-car collision that happened at about 7 a.m. near Swale Road, paramedics said.

It appears to have been head-on.

A 34-year-old man was being transported to hospital by air ambulance with back and leg injuries. He was in serious but stable condition.

Two other people were being taken to hospital by ambulance in serious but stable condition.

A fourth person, who was in a third car that took evasive action to avoid the collision, was unhurt.

The fire department reported that it had extricated people trapped in their vehicles but as of 7:40 a.m. the incident was still active and the road was closed as “all agencies” worked to help the victims.
