A 17-year-old from Gatineau faces both criminal charges and traffic fines after driving an off-road motorbike through the streets and colliding with a Gatineau police cruiser.
Police running a speed trap saw the off-road bike on Lorrain Boulevard near Chemin Dufresne around 10 p.m. Sunday and tried to pull over the driver, but he allegedly sped off. He tried to make a U-turn on Lorrain, and that’s when he and the cruiser collided.
The young man, who cannot be named because of his age, had minor ankle injuries. No one else was hurt.
He now faces charges of fleeing from police and dangerous driving — both criminal offences — and not having either the right class of driver’s licence or a current registration for the bike.
