Another man wanted in the alleged gangland kidnapping plot-turned-murder of Mohamed “Magic” Najdi has been arrested by Ottawa police, the Citizen has learned.

Six others have already been charged in what police believe was a botched plot to kidnap Najdi and hold him ransom for gold.

Brian Aikman was arrested Tuesday by gang-suppression officers in Ottawa. His capture comes days after all Ottawa police officers were told to be on the lookout for the man — who is expected to be charged with manslaughter and conspiracy to commit kidnapping — and 19 months after Najdi was gunned down in Manor Park.

Najdi, 28, was shot multiple times in the back as he ran from a parking lot on Claremont Drive, where he had escaped his kidnappers. Najdi was found slumped on the ground after pounding on neighbours’ doors for help. Najdi’s associate, Amirali Mohsen, was allegedly duct-taped, abducted and driven away from the scene but later released by their captors.

Alaa Sameer Asiri, 33; Ali “Montana” Elenezi, 18; Lual “Gorilla” Lual, 26; and Mohamed “Shadow” Mohamed, 32; Mohamud Yusuf, 25; and Nedeljko Borozan, 26, have all been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping.

Aikman is expected to appear in court Wednesday.
