Ottawa firefighters freed a man who uses a wheelchair after his SUV got wedged in a downtown underpass Wednesday morning.
City police called them in at 9:14 a.m. after the single-vehicle crash with a barrier on Kent Street under the Queensway.
Firefighters used “cribbing” to stabilize the SUV before they could begin extrication efforts. The man was out of the vehicle at 9:47 a.m. Crews were on scene until the damaged guardrail and debris were secured.
Paramedics said a 46-year-old man was in stable condition after being assessed for low blood pressure.
