In Navan, it was the police against the Miracle League on the ball diamond, each vying for the Game of Champions hardware.
Out in Richmond on a beautiful Saturday, those in attendance were a part of a long history, the sounds of screams rising from thrilling rides while cotton candy was spun and determined marksmen attempted to win the biggest stuffed toy available during the 173rd Richmond Fair.
And by Saturday evening, it was time for a formal crowd, with the audience at the NAC Gala entertained by featured performer k.d. lang, as well as Alexander Shelley and the NAC Orchestra. The evening supported the NAC Youth and Education Trust.
Members of the Ottawa Police Service and veteran members of the Miracle League of Ottawa were meeting for the second year at the Miracle League Ballpark.
“The Miracle League Ballpark was inspired by Bryce Desrochers, who just wanted to get out and play ball like other kids,” said event organizer Angela Robinson. “His mother, Michelle, and father Rolly worked to make this dream come true for their son, and the field … includes wheelchair-accessible dugouts and diamond, and a cushioned rubberized surface to prevent injuries.”
