We have a web app using frames in the IIS/ASP/IE environment. Be reminded that we use a lot of popup windows due to the business requirement (In a main web form, users can open a branch window to perform entry/updates and then be able to come back to the original main window). All have been working with no problems in Windows NT with IE 5, 5.5, and even 6.0.

When switching to Win XP (IE 6.0 with some xpsp extention), the IE BACK button is not working properly. The typical schenario is this: User go to one of the main task, they enter some search criteria, get a list of results in a window with links to the individual item details. When user clicks one of the links, the window will show all the details for the item. At this point, users can click the IE BACK button to the search list window with no problem. However, if s/he clicks one of the "..." buttons in the detail window to perform any required operation in the resulted popup branch windows, then close the branch window, clicking the IE BACK button always takes them to the blank search window (instead of the desired search result list window). Somehow, the history dropdown list (in the right side of the IE BACK button) does not show the search result list window either.

Please anybody with similar experience share with me how you deal with such problems. Is there a very quick fix/patch from MS? (I tried to search MS site with no clues).

This is a urgent request since we get more and more requests to fix the problem from clients daily.

Many thanks!
