During early stages of construction of the O-train Confederation Line, in 2013 and 2014, caskets and human remains were unearthed from a long-forgotten cemetery that dates back to Ottawa’s pre-Confederation history. Visitors to this unique exhibit will see 52 caskets containing the remains of men, women and children from 19th century Bytown. Come learn more about the history of Barrack Hill, life in early Bytown, and to pay respects to these individuals before they find their permanent resting place.
