Provincial police are looking for a man in connection with a bank robbery in Kemptville on Friday afternoon.

A man wearing a disguise to conceal his face entered the TD Canada Trust, at 325 Colonnade Dr., at around 1:30 p.m. and fled the scene with money and a dye pack, the OPP reported.

While fleeing, the red dye pack exploded on the suspect, police added.

No weapon was observed and there were no injuries.

Police secured the bank and it was inaccessible to customers later Friday while officers conducted their investigation. Police were still at the scene as of 6:30 p.m. Friday.

OPP did not have further details Friday evening, including how the suspect got hold of the money or how much was stolen.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Grenville County OPP communication centre at 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or submit a tip online at http://www.tipsubmit.com.

The red dye should be a telltale sign, said OPP Const. Cathy Lindsey.

“If somebody sees someone with unusual red spots or dye on them, certainly we’d be interested in the information,” she said.
