At 31.8 C, Sunday was Ottawa’s hottest day since records began and Monday is forecast to be even hotter.

The capital is under a heat warning but expect more typical temperatures by the end of the week.

Environment Canada is predicting a Monday high of 32 C with a humidex of 40 and a low of 17 C.

Tuesday is expected to be 31 C which will again feel more like 40 with a low of 18 C.

Wednesday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 29 C that will plummet to 11 C overnight.

Then it gets much cooler Thursday with a high of 18 C under mixed skies and a low of 7 C.

In case you’ve forgotten that’s almost precisely seasonal temperatures for late September, when an average high is 17 C and low is 7 C.

Friday is a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of 13 C and a low of just 4 C.

Saturday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers, a high of 15 C and a low of 5 C.

For Sunday, expect a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 17 C.
