Police are looking for more information after a male was allegedly assaulted by a group of people in the Parkland Court area in Smiths Falls on Friday, causing several schools to shut down.
Around noon, police received a call about the assault. They arrived at the area and searched it with the help of Ontario Provincial Police officers and a canine unit, although the suspects had fled.
A handgun may have also been involved, but police had not confirmed the report.
Schools in the area were locked down as a precaution, but opened shortly after.
