Leeds County OPP officers have been tackling a string of livestock-on-the-loose calls this fall.

Their conclusion?

“Good fences make good neighbours,” the detachment said in a release Tuesday.

On Monday, officers were called to a home on Kitley Line 8 in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township where wandering bulls were trying to meet with the complainants’ heifers.

While officers were settling that cattle complaint, a herd of goats escaped their confines.

On Friday, officers had been called to tackle a loose pony that wandering onto the road near Motts Mills then fled into the bush.

“Reports are that this pony is still outstanding,” OPP said.

On Thursday, a herd of cattle had to be corralled back onto a property on Kelly Road, also in Elizabethtown-Kitley.

“OPP remind residents with livestock that they have a duty to ensure their animals do not stray onto neighbouring properties or the roadway,” the OPP warned.
