Ottawa police have issued a public appeal for help in locating a family — believed to be from the British Isles — that has allegedly skipped out on bills at 20 hotels and bed and breakfasts during the past two months.
The Ottawa Police Service’s organized fraud unit said the couple, travelling with two teenager sons, has targeted places to stay in both Ottawa and Gatineau since early August.
According to police, they have made false complaints about their accommodations in order to avoid paying, and have repeatedly left locations without covering their bills.
Police have identified the suspects as Teresa and John Moorehouse, who are travelling with their two teenage sons. She is described as a 42-year-old, blonde white woman who speaks with an Irish accent. He is described as a 44-year-old white man, with a large build, light brown hair and an Irish accent.
The family of four is travelling with British and Irish passports, police said.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the family is asked to call Detective Shaun Wahbeh of the Ottawa police fraud unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5492. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling CrimeStoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
