Tuesday was a a busy day for Ottawa Police Sgt. Mark Gatien, a traffic officer and active Twitter user.

First he posted that he had just finished a case in traffic court where a driver had fines totalling $6,255.

That was for having no insurance, driving while suspended, and having an expired licence plate.

That same day he says he says he reduced a speeder to tears, catching the driver travelling at 127 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

The man lost his licence for seven days — and also the vehicle he uses for work.

Driving more than 50 km/h over the limit qualifies as stunt driving in Ontario.

Want to see a grown man cry. Charge him with stunting for doing 127kph in a 60kph zone and take his licence and work vehicle away for 7 days

Gatien also reports steady business on the Strandherd Bridge, where he was catching cars driving in bus lanes.

18 charges. Strandherd bridge bus lane. Biggest excuse. But I'm turning right. They wouldn't let me in the other lane. I'm new here. $180
