A chili-tasting fundraiser on Saturday will raise money for a community group that helps needy residents in Vanier.
The plan is to provide Onyx Community Services with a van as well as a lift that would allow clients with disabilities to get to the organization’s second-floor counselling offices. Onyx on Montreal Road provides a range of services, including counselling and psychotherapy, community reintegration programs for those in conflict with the law and addiction support to those who have nowhere else to turn.
Various local restaurants, including Union Street Kitchen Café and Clocktower Brewhouse, will provide their best chili to sample at the event, and celebrity judges will make their choices, too. The event also includes a silent auction.
When: Saturday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m.
Where: Governor’s Walk Retirement Residence, 150 Stanley Ave., the group sponsoring the event
Tickets: $10 at the door
