Riviera, the posh Sparks Street restaurant popular with Parliament Hill politicos and Ottawa’s foodies, is one of Canada’s Top 10 new restaurants of 2017, according to enRoute magazine.

The restaurant, opened in the summer of 2016 by chefs Matthew Carmichael and Jordan Holley, ranked seventh on the popular list, announced Thursday night by Air Canada’s inflight magazine. The November issue of enRoute will feature the 10 eateries, which were chosen by critic Andrew Braithwaite after he had eaten at 30 contenders across the country. Riviera was the only Ottawa restaurant that had made the long list.

Carmichael and Holley also own Ottawa’s two El Camino restaurants, which specialize in tacos, as well as Datsun, which serves Asian small plates, on Elgin Street.
