Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a 39-year-old Perth man in connection with an Oct. 2 armed robbery at at an LCBO store in Lanark.

The robbery occurred at the LCBO on Clarence Street in the Village of Lanark at around 12:20 p.m. Witnesses said the suspect was carrying a firearm. He fled on foot.

No one was injured during the robbery.

While police were investigating the robbery, two nearby schools — Maple Grove Public School and Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School — were placed in a “hold and secure” mode to ensure the safety of teachers and students. In “hold and secure,” the buildings are locked and no one is allowed to enter or leave. The measure isn’t as severe as a full “lockdown,” in which students are confined to their classrooms in the event of an emergency.

Bryan Mordy, 39, of Perth faces charges including robbery using a firearm, wearing a disguise and pointing a firearm.

He has been held in police custody while he awaits a bail hearing in Perth. It was not immediately clear when Mordy was arrested.

Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to call 613-267-2626.
