A newly formed sinkhole in the north lane of Rideau Street near Sussex Drive forced traffic and bus services to be rerouted Thursday afternoon
The hole, a few metres wide, is located in the same area where a massive sinkhole formed on June 8, 2016, causing a gas leak, building evacuations and closing the street down for months.

Rideau Street is now closed from Sussex Drive to Dalhousie Street to accommodate emergency repairs.
There was no immediate indication of the cause of the sinkhole.
Buses for OC Transpo have been rerouted to the Mackenzie King stops. Gatineau’s STO buses will stop on Wellington Street.
