Police are being polite about it but their warning after a transport truck driver who got stuck in the wrong lane at the Ivy Lea border crossing is the master of understatement.
It was at 12:25 a.m. Sunday when officers were called to Canada Border Services at the bridge west of Brockville. A transport truck driver had torn off part of a parking canopy and destroyed a surveillance camera.
Turned out the 55-year-old Quebec man had tried to wedge his rig into the auto route lanes, instead of the route for transports. He tried to maneuver through tight turns but got stuck between the curb and canopy.
“OPP remind drivers that following posted signs could save you time, money and unnecessary delays in your travels,” Leeds and Thousand Islands Township officers warn.
