The Rideau Canal was sitting in first place Wednesday in a poll put up by USA Today asking readers to vote on the top 10 best skating rinks in North America.
The 7.8-kilometre skateway has been nominated alongside 19 other rinks, including Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto and The Rink at Rockerfeller Centre in New York City.
As of Wednesday morning, it was narrowly ahead of the Sun Valley Outdoor Ice Rink in Sun Valley, Idaho.
The Sun Valley rink operates year-round and is known to host many of Team USA’s top Olympic figure skaters.
Voting for USA Today’s top 10 list will continue until the first week of December when it will reveal its 2017 best bets to the world.
