Kingston police have charged the driver of a city bus that struck and killed a pedestrian last Friday.
Police said in a news release Wednesday that the unidentified driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failure to yield to a pedestrian.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of John Counter Boulevard and Leroy Grant Drive for the collision at approximately 7:15 a.m.
Kingston police said that the bus was traveling west on John Counter Boulevard when it turned left on a green light onto Leroy Grant Drive and struck the man in a crosswalk.
The victim was identified as Andrew Douglas Serres, 32, of Kingston.
“We will confirm that the driver has not yet returned to work but beyond that the City does not speak publicly about personnel matters,” the City of Kingston said in a release.
