CUASA (representing faculty and librarians) and Carleton University
met with a mediator on September 30 and October 1 in an effort to reach
a settlement in their contract talks. Although the parties were unable
to reach an agreement, it continues to be business as usual at the
University. All regularly scheduled classes will continue in their
normal locations and all departments and services will be open as
usual.
CUASA has indicated it will not take any job action until a strike date
is announced publicly and that is yet to occur.
The University remains hopeful that a negotiated settlement can be
reached and a strike averted.
Both sides have indicated that they are available for further
discussions and are prepared to return to the bargaining table at
anytime.
