Five people were injured in a car crash in Gatineau Tuesday morning that occurred as a driver was allegedly fleeing from police.
Officers were operating a radar trap near an elementary school on St. René Boulevard West when a car sped past them and the driver refused to pull over, police said.
Less than a minute later, the fleeing car was in a crash with three other vehicles in the intersection of Montée Paiement and St. René. Police say preliminary information indicates the driver they were chasing went through a red light.
Five people were injured and four of them were taken to hospital, though police say none of the injuries were serious.
The driver was among the injured. He was arrested as the investigation continues.
