Risk of flurries, mercury plunging to -12 C overnight

A temperature teeter-totter is in the forecast with the mercury swinging from as low as -12 C to as high as 9 C over the next few days.

Ottawa awoke to 0 C Wednesday morning but the mercury will drop to -2 C by the afternoon, with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, and a frosty -12 C overnight.

For Thursday, Environment Canada predicts clouds and a high of 3 C. There’s a 40 per cent chance of flurries overnight and a low of -2 C.

Friday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud, a high – and low – of 5 C and a 70 per cent chance of overnight showers.

Saturday is expected to be even warmer at 9 C with a 70 per cent chance of showers which switches to a 40 per cent chance of overnight flurries with a low of -4 C.

For Sunday, expect clouds and a high of -3 C with a 30 per cent chance of nighttime flurries and a low of -9 C.

Monday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of -2 C turning to clouds, a 40 per cent chance of flurries and low of -5 C overnight.

Mixed skies and a high of 2 C is expected for Tuesday.

Typical temperatures for late November are highs of 3 C and lows of -5 C.
