As Ottawa prepares to welcome the nation’s football fans for the Grey Cup Festival, the city is urging the public to plan ahead before heading to the events.
Grey Cup Festival events are taking place downtown and at Lansdowne Nov. 23-26 and traffic delays are expected. The city is urging people to arrive at their destination early and plan ahead by checking the schedule of traffic impacts listed on ottawa.ca,
Fly-past and Skyhawks
Two fly-pasts of two CF-18 aircraft will take place over TD Stadium at the start of the Grey Cup Game on Sunday, Nov. 26. They will fly-past at 6:34 and 6:38 p.m.
The SkyHawks Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team will execute three landings on the Great Lawn of Lansdowne during the Grey Cup Festival:
· Thursday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m.
· Friday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m.
· Saturday, Nov. 25 at 1:30 p.m.
Ticket to ride
For Grey Cup Game ticket holders, your ticket is your unlimited pass to free public transit from Wednesday, Nov. 22, to Monday, Nov. 27. Just show your printed or e-ticket to the operator. Para Transpo fares are also included in your event ticket price; please book your trip as normal. For additional information, including the free service for festival ticket holders, visit octranspo.com.
Shuttle Service – Nov. 23 to 25
Grey Cup Festival shuttle service is free for everyone, with no tickets required, and will take you between three locations:
Bus shuttles run every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to midnight. from Thursday, Nov. 23, to Saturday, Nov. 25.
Game Day shuttles (Nov. 26)
As on RedBlacks game days throughout the football season, there are two shuttle options you can take to get to the big game.
Game Day road closures (Nov. 26)
Traffic will be slow around Lansdowne before and after the game. Come down and enjoy yourself but expect delays. If you are not going to the Grey Cup Game or festivities on Sunday, please try to avoid the area.
Parking Prohibited (Nov. 26):
Cycling on Game Day (Nov. 26)
You can take your bike to the Grey Cup Game, but review road closures and parking information before you go. Due to site modifications within TD Place at Lansdowne, the existing bike racks will not be accessible on No. 26. Bike parking is available in two locations nearby:
Security
Ottawa Police advise that there will be an increase in police presence in Ottawa due to the Grey Cup Festival. Residents and visitors are reminded that if you see something suspicious, report it to a police officer.
Sometimes emergency responders are needed in large crowds. If this happens, please move out of the way and follow their instructions.
Have a game plan for a safe ride home. Celebrate responsibly and don’t drive impaired by drugs or alcohol.

- All 450-series routes will be in service starting at 2 p.m. (four hours prior to kickoff)
- The 450-series service will be provided for two hours after the end of the game

- Bank Street will be closed to all vehicles and bicycles between Sunnyside Drive and Fifth Avenue between 2 p.m. and midnight. Pedestrians will only be permitted in this area during that time. Cyclists will have to dismount and walk their bikes through the closure zone.
- Queen Elizabeth Drive will be closed between Preston Street and Somerset Street between 9 p.m. and midnight.
- Monk Street will be closed to all vehicles and bicycles between 2 p.m. and midnight.
Parking Prohibited (Nov. 26):
- Bank Street from Chamberlain Avenue to Riverdale Avenue;
- Monk Street from Fifth Avenue to Wilton Crescent;
- Fifth Avenue from Lyon Street South to O’Connor Street; and,
- Lisgar Street from Elgin Street to easterly end.
