If we were living in southern Alberta, we’d call today’s weather a Chinook.
But here in the capital, let’s just call it a small blessing.
Temperatures are expected to soar to about 10 C Tuesday, from an overnight low of about -10 C (not including any possible wind factors.)
The day should be a mix of sun and cloud, with the wind becoming gusty by about noon, with burst up to 50 km/h.
Tuesday evening should be mainly cloudy with showers ending before morning. The low should dip to -2 C.
Wednesday is expected to be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers or flurries in the morning.
Skies are expected to clear through the afternoon, remaining windy and the temperatures will begin another slide, to an overnight low of about 0-10 C.
Thursday should see mixed skies, with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a high of about 3 C. Showers or flurries are expected Thursday night, with a low of zero.
Friday and Saturday are looking much the same so far, with mixed sun and clouds and daytime highs of 4 C, and lows around 0 C.
Forecast for tonight: -17?
Forecast for tomorrow: +10?
The last time #Ottawa saw the temperature rise 27? like that was over 13 years ago.#OttNews
