According to firefighters, someone attempted to cut down a tree limb around 1:30 p.m.. The limb fell the wrong way, slicing through a power line and a phone line that lay beneath it.
The falling wires tangled, causing them to arc out. The arc sent a power surge through nearby homes, causing at least one to call 911 after smoke filled the house.
According to firefighters, while they found smoke in the basement of a home on Haymarket Street.
No open fire was located, but firefighters used thermal imaging there and in several homes along Haymarket Street to ensure that no fire was smouldering behind walls.

No estimates were available for damages or when service to the affected homes would be restored.
