It took 55 firefighters and 18 fire trucks to extinguish a blaze that shot flames 40 feet into the sky Saturday night at an unused door and window factory.
Firefighters arrived on scene at 35 rue Desrosiers at around 6:15 p.m., and were still working overnight to extinguish the blaze.
Gatineau firefighters estimated the blaze caused more than $1.7 million in damage.
Police are investigating the cause.
