A 26-year-old Ottawa man faces a host of charges in connection with a string of robberies at banks and a pharmacy during November.
The man has been charged with 13 counts of robbery, eight counts of wearing a disguise and six counts of breach of undertaking. He had also been wanted on a Canada-wide arrest warrant in relation to breaching conditions of his parole.
He and a suspected accomplice were arrested separately on Nov. 30.
The man appeared in court Dec. 1 and is being held in custody pending a court hearing Dec. 8.
This suspect’s name has been withheld as an investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
Detectives had been looking for a man who was believed to have been involved in the robbery of at least seven different banks since Nov. 6.
The most recent occurred on Nov. 20 at around 2:15 p.m. when a man a man entered a bank near the intersection of Carling and Kirkwood avenues and demanded cash.
He was handed an undisclosed amount of money and fled. There were no injuries.
In addition, investigators have reason to believe that a robbery at a pharmacy on Nov. 7 is also linked to the suspect.
On that date, a man entered a pharmacy also located near the intersection of Carling and Kirkwood avenues at about 3:15 p.m., and demanded specific prescription drugs.
The suspect fled with an undisclosed quantity of drugs to a waiting vehicle.
Also arrested and charged in that incident was Crystal Trudel, 27, of Ottawa. She is charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and is to appear in court Dec. 14.
