The elderly man involved in what Kingston police described on Tuesday as a domestic homicide, has died of his injuries.
Around 7:30 a.m., Tuesday police received a 911 call from a distraught male who claimed to have a gun at a residence on Graceland Avenue in Kingston’s west end.
Patrol officers and the specialized emergency response team responded.
Officers surrounded the house then entered.
In an upstairs room, they found a 76-year-old man and his 78-year-old wife, both with gunshot wounds.
The woman was declared dead at the scene and the man was taken to hospital by paramedics with critical life-threatening injuries.
He died in hospital, according to police
Police said a handgun was seized at the scene and police believe the man was responsible for the injuries to both parties.
With the man now dead the investigation falls under the jurisdiction of the coroner’s office with Kingston police assisting.
