Two Ottawa women face charges of trafficking a number of drugs, including fentanyl, after they were arrested in the Kingston courthouse Friday.

Acting on a tip, Kingston police raided a local hotel room Friday afternoon, where they discovered what they believed to be powdered fentanyl, along with a “large quantity” of suspected heroin, cocaine and crystal methamphetamine.

Shortly afterwards, police tracked the suspects to the Ontario Court of Justice on Wellington Street. The women, aged 29 and 19, were arrested and searched. The 19-year-old was allegedly found to be holding a small baggy of suspected cocaine, while the 29-year-old was found with a large quantity of cash and a small baggy of suspected heroin.

The women, whose names were not released, were charged jointly with possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of property obtained by crime.

The were held over pending a bail hearing.
