Looks like a day of confusion in the capital area, with a little bit of everything weatherwise, most of it unappealing.

Traffic was building to a crescendo in the early going, with commuters backed up in the usual spots by about 7 a.m.

Schoolbuses were cancelled in STEO territory but all schools are open.

The snow is expected to change to rain showers by about noon, leaving a total of five cm in its wake.

It’s a snowy morning at #YOW! Check the status of a flight with the airline, #FlyCANADA app or at https://t.co/wcN7x24Mdq before coming to the airport, and give yourself extra time to get here. #OttCity #OttTraffic pic.twitter.com/gUUtuYCWBG

Environment Canada cites a risk of freezing rain for the capital, but no formal alerts or warnings.

Just had the world's slowest traffic accident sliding down the hill from Bronson N onto Slater. No damage, all good, but I'll be taking Bay St in winter from now on. Be careful, it's awfully slippery. #otttraffic
