The car took a licking but kept on ticking.

The driver, not so much.

Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, drivers on Bayridge Drive in Kingston noticed a car travelling much too fast and zooming past them on the right. Bayridge is a major north-south arterial in Kingston.

The car eventually banged into a curb and the driver lost control. The car rolled over, but happened to land back on all four wheels.

It was in sad shape. One rear passenger door panel was gone, the brakes were seized, and the air bags had blown up.

All of which didn’t slow the driver down.

She was off again, swerving across the centre line and drawing all kinds of attention. Onlookers called police. By the time they caught up with the driver, she had gone over another curb and this time the car was hung up in the middle. Officers arrived to see her trying to push the car back onto the road.

The driver, aged 47, has been charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol. A breath test found nearly 2.5 times the legal amount of alcohol in her system.
