Ottawa 2017 moves New Years Eve party indoors at City Hall

Citing “extreme” weather, Ottawa 2017 organizers have moved New Years Eve events into City Hall.

The only outside event is the torch lighting set for 8:17 p.m. Sunday (20h17 on a 24-hour clock), when the temperature will be on its way to a forecast overnight low of -24 C.

The line-up includes:

• 6 -8 p.m. – A video retrospective of the “favourite memories” of 2017 in Council Chambers, including
  new footage of La Machine from a documentary filmed during the July event and behind the scenes stories from Ottawa 2017 executive director Guy Laflamme
• 6:30 -7 p.m. – Music by Juno-award winning DJ Rise Ashen
• 7-8 p.m. – “Parka Yoga” led by professional teachers
• 8:17 p.m. – A year-ending salute to volunteers at the Ottawa 2017 Cauldron outside Ottawa City Hall
