You know the drill by now.
Ottawa awoke to -24 C Friday morning and the news that Environment Canada had issued yet another extreme cold warning with windchills expected to hover around -40 Friday and Saturday.
So cover up, check up on vulnerable friends and neighbours and bring pets inside.
Planning to hit the Rideau Canal Skateway on opening day? Cover every scrap of exposed skin because Ottawa Public Health has a frostbite warning in effect, too.
Friday’s forecast is for periods of light snow to begin in the late morning with northwest winds at 30 km/h gusting to 50, a high of -19 C and a wind chill of -39. The overnight low is -26 C that will feel like -40.

Meanwhile, the massive storm that hit the Maritimes and the Eastern U.S. coast continues to have an impact on flights out of and into Ottawa. Airlines recommend travellers check ahead.
The East coast storm and extreme cold is impacting flights at #YOW. Some flights are delayed/cancelled. Check the status of a flight with the airline, at https://t.co/WI4CkPfQVQ or on the #FlyCANADA app before coming to the airport. Give yourself extra time to get here. #OttCity
