Art lovers will have to take a two-week break from the National Gallery of Canada starting Monday as the institution gets set for a major maintenance project.
The closure until Jan. 22 is to allow workers to prepare for replacement of the windows and roof in the main entrance and Colonnade sections of the building.
The gallery describes the work as “the next phase of an essential part of the life cycle maintenance of the building.”
The gallery will re-open Jan. 23 and will remain open while the project proceeds. It is expected to conclude in November.
While the work is underway, the gallery box office will be temporarily relocated to the Sketches eating area, located near the group entrance.
Signage will be in place.
