Be careful what you wish for.

We all wanted some relief from last week’s cold snap but will Ottawans be any happier with a week’s worth of snow?

We’re about to find out.

Some form of precipitation is in store every day this week (including rain – but we’ll get to that).

Environment Canada is forecasting 5 cm today, which is on top of the 9 cm that fell yesterday.

More snow is expected tomorrow and just about every day this week.

The good news? Today’s high should hit -1 C.

But if you think that’s warm, we’re about to get downright tropical later this week when we’re expected to hit 5 C on Thursday.

And that’s when the rain is expected.

Rain and winter never mix well together, so we’ll keep an eye on that.

After Thursday’s spike, the temperature will drop again on Friday and we could see another substantial snow over the weekend.

The weekend is still pretty far away: we still have today to deal with.

Police are urging drivers to be careful – the roads are slippery and many connectors still have snow on them.

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario and the Upper Canada District School Board have cancelled their bus service.

Schools are open.
