The fire department reported Friday morning that they were investigating a smoky fire in the power vault at the Civic campus of the Ottawa Hospital.
As of 10:20 a.m., a fire department spokeswoman said that a working fire had been declared to get extra resources to a hydro installation on the Ruskin side of the complex and that the Civic had mobilized emergency staff.
A hospital spokesperson confirmed there was “a localized evacuation from a service building at the Civic Campus,” in the incident.
“Emergency power is being provided in patient areas,” the spokesperson said.
Hydro Ottawa is on scene, the fire department reported, but is not reporting a system outage in the Civic Hospital neighbourhood.
