Police are asking for the public’s help to identify two suspects responsible for a violent home invasion near the Ottawa International Airport.

On Jan. 11 at approximately 9:30 p.m., two suspects, one disguised, forcibly entered a home along the 0 – 100 block of Kemp Drive.

The suspects, one armed with a handgun, accosted an elderly male who was home alone. The victim was restrained by one suspect as the second suspect searched the residence.

The victim was struck several times with the handgun around the face and sustained minor injuries, but did not require additional medical attention at the time.

The suspects fled with two pieces of jewellery.

Ottawa police say it remains unclear if the residence/victim were specifically targeted.

The first suspect is described as possibly of Asian descent, with a long face, clean-shaven, about five feet five inches (165 cm) tall with a medium build. He was wearing a winter tuque, light-coloured winter jacket.

The second suspect’s face was covered with a balaclava and stood around six feet (183 cm) tall with a slim build.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ottawa police robbery unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa police app.
