The weekend weather promises to be warmer but watch out – there’s a risk of freezing rain during the afternoon commute and into the evening.

Otherwise, the forecast is for clouds, a 30 per cent chance of flurries by day and 40 per cent by night, a high of -1 C and a low of -2 C.

Saturday’s forecast is for mainly-cloudy skies, a 40 per cent chance of morning flurries with southwest winds at 30 km/h gusting to 50 and a high of 4 C. There’s a 30 per cent chance of overnight flurries and a low of -3 C.

For Sunday, expect clouds, a 40 per cent chance of flurries, a high of 2 C and a low of -7 C.

Monday looks messy.

The forecast for cloudy skies with a 70 per cent chance of snow by day, periods of freezing rain or snow by night and a high – and low – of -6 C.

The mercury rises to 2 C Tuesday with periods of freezing rain or rain. There’s a 60 per cent chance of overnight flurries and a forecast low of -8 C.

Wednesday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud, a 30 per cent chance of flurries, a high of -5 C and a low of -16 C.

For Thursday, expect a mix of sun and cloud and a high of -8 C.
