[问题] 去美国办签证需要什么？

这个月底要和导师去美国参加一个会议。以前没办过签证。请问都需要什么材料？比如学校的证明信，导师的会议证明信，护照？
还有听说办签证要预约，不知道有没有提供网上预约的？现在预约要等多久呢？

1. 学校的证明信, to prove you are a student here
2. 导师的会议证明信, ask you prof. to write a letter for u, ask the conference to send you proof that u will present paper there...
3. check out US embassy at Ottawa website, there is a on-line booking system. need $10
4. how are u going to support your trip? proof.
