A pilot was lucky to escape without injury after his ultralight aircraft was badly damaged in a crash near the intersection of chemin Pink and rue de Blizzard in Gatineau on Sunday morning.
Gatineau Police said that by the time the pilot’s 11:46 a.m. mayday call was transmitted to them through aviation channels, the man had gotten out of the plane and was already taking off the wings to load it into a truck. The aircraft had mechanical problems.
The pilot landed in a clearing in a residential neighbourhood.
The Transportation Safety Board was notified, police said.
