An exhibit of snow sculptures in Gatineau’s Jacques-Cartier Park South has been forced to close while sculptors effect repairs following a warm January weekend.

The exhibit, Mosaïvernales, has temporarily closed to allow a team of sculptors from Harbin, China to rework the damaged snow sculptures. Organizers will update the situation Thursday.

People who visited the event during the past weekend have been invited to come back to Jacques-Cartier Park after the repairs have been made. They’ll be granted free admission upon presentation of their old tickets.

The exhibit, open from dusk to 10 p.m., features a seres of illuminated snow sculptures. The central sculpture is called Terre Mère (Mother Earth), a tribute to one of the most popular exhibits in the hugely successful MosaïCanada exhibit held in the same park last year.

The City of Gatineau and the National Capital Commission have partnered to mount the event.

The new exhibit will run from Jan. 26 to March 4, and will coincide with Winterlude. The park is already home to Winterlude’s Snowflake Kingdom with giant slides.

Admission to the exhibit is $10; children 12 and under get in for free.
