Weather: Frostbite advisory but snow and warmer temps in the forecast

Ottawa Public Health was warning commuters to remember their layers and toques Wednesday morning with a wake-up temperature of -20 C and a frostbite advisory in effect.

But temperatures will warm up fast with a forecast high of -7 C and snow expected to total 2 cm starting near noon.

Overnight, expect snow totalling 5 cm to end after midnight then cloudy skies with a 30 per cent chance of flurries as the mercury rises to -2 C by morning.

For Thursday, expect mainly cloudy skies, a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high of 0 C. There’s a forecast 70 per cent chance of overnight flurries and a low of -13 C.

We should see some sun Friday with mixed skies, a high of -12 C and a low of -19 C.



Saturday’s forecast is for clouds with a 40 per cent chance of snow by day and 70 per cent by night, a high of -8 C and a low of -23 C.

For Sunday, expect a mix of sun and cloud, a high of -14 C and a low of -20 C.

Monday is a mix of sun and cloud with a high of -9 C, a low of -14 C and an overnight 40 chance of flurries that lingers into Tuesday.

Typical temperatures for this time of year are highs of -6 C and lows of -15 C.
