While you may not have won this year’s CHEO Dream home, you can still own it.

Dan Champagne — vice president, development and corporate relations at CHEO — said the grand prize winner, Sophie Rybak, chose not to live in the house because she needs a home that is accessible for a family member who has mobility issues.

Champagne said there are a variety of reasons winners choose to not live in CHEO dream homes.

“We do have some people that move into them and stay there forever, we have other people that move into them and put it for sale after a year … it really depends on a lot of things,” Champagne said.

The Minto-developed home, which hits the market on Thursday, is located in Manotick and features more than 5,300 square feet of living space with a media room, gym, four bedrooms and five bathrooms. The home, located at 585 Chriscraft Way., will be listed for $1.4 million, unfurnished.

The home is the perfect for gatherings for families and friends, says Dora Bejaoui, a broker with Paul Rushforth Real Estate, the agency selling the property.

“The highlight for me is the hub of the home, the kitchen, and then the extraordinary second-storey great room, and the natural light that comes into the house is absolutely spectacular,” said Bejaoui. “It really is a great family home. You can be in your own private space, but you are still very much connected to everyone else in the household.”

An agent’s open house will be held Feb. 8 from 2 to 4 p.m.
